As you will understand the Club has been limited in what it can offer our members this year due to various Covid related restrictions but we are actively working on upgrading our fleet, planning future events and on our offering for the future.
We are keenly aware of interest to get on the water in Salcombe this year so Peter, our Rear Commodore Sailing, has offered to take members on skippered RIB cruises on his own 7m RIB to take members and their families to places they may not have visited before, weather permitting of course.
This is not RIB hire as offered by our much respected partners in the Harbour but trips out for members, possibly involving taking the Club’s own RIB in addition if there is sufficient competence amongst our guests. Peter will not charge for his time but we would expect a contribution to be made to the ICC for the time on the water as well as for fuel etc.
Popular trips might include trips along the coast to Dartmouth or in a westerly direction for a drink at the famous Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island, (which dates back to 1336), or just staying in the area putting an anchor down for a picnic in Starehole Bay. On the journey Peter, who has 50+ years offshore racing experience and 25 years in RIBs, will be happy to show beginners of all ages the basics of how to drive RIBs and share tips for the more advanced.
This will be offered for members only but membership can be arranged beforehand. Peter will then liaise with the party leader as to days, weather, trips and his own availability.
